Just curious... I have two buck questions.

1) Are there any Rangers in S30V?

2) Where is everyone getting these fine 110's in S30V? ---Subquestion: can S30V rangers be found in the same place?

I know that you can customize a 110 on the Buck website, but are they distributing them on a wide scale in S30V?

P.S. Just for fun it would be cool to have a 385 toothpick in S30V:D.

Thanks everyone!

Actually there were a few 112's made for the collector club in S30V. In addition to the sambar stag, there is another difference. See if you can see it.

And you old codgers don't tell....

click on the pic a couple of times for full size

The middle knife's scales? The bolsters? IDK, but this is fun:D.

EDIT: wait a new picture...

...Drop points!
...Speed holes!
...some w/ finger grooves?
-Am I still missing the big difference? -finger nail groove for opening?

Yeah, drop points. Many don't pick up on that as fast.

In addition...finger groove.

The stag on some of these were really fat.

thanks for the pictures. I am going to look into this club. I have been eyeing everyone's S30V 110's ever since I got on BF.

For the guys that like drop points, these pretty much have everything.

Nickle Silver bolsters, S30V, sambar stag, finger groove, and drop points.

These were a one shot deal as fund raisers for the Buck Collector Club.

Not any more of them. In either the 110 or the 112. and supposedly won't be any more made at Buck.

:(. Those were perfect. Do they regularly come out with something special, or just those, just that one time?

If that is the case, I will have to buck up (whats this, a pun?) and get a custom:D.

If I could I would really like the Ranger in S30V, its my favorite. Those were some beautiful knives.

The BCC picks out different variations of different knives as fund raiser knives. Never heard of them repeating a series. So yes.. that was a one shot deal on those. The 110 one year and the 112 the next year.

You can't get a drop point blade in a 112 or a 110 either, out of the custom shop. At least not in S30V.

Ratty didn't mention that about a year ago Buck did take orders to the Custom Shop for custom 112s. Most people ordered them with S30V. This to was a one time shot and around 100 knives were made at that time.

So they are around these S30V's and they do periodically come up for sale but they are rare.

Here's a few of mine (don't have the KOA anymore).

Well actually, I sent the KOA back and it was replaced with another smooth Buff without inlay rivets which I sold to Snotwad. The Cherry I rehandled in Sambar stag and its my EDC 112. But I was able to buy another cherry with FG off ebay so I'm one of the lucky ones. Here is the mod stag on the bottom.

I don't know why, but I didn't get in on the 112 deal. I guess because I prefer the 110.

that and I am just overloaded with knives.

actually I think it all started when I applied to start drawing my social security.....now thats depressing... old age sux....lol

Cabelas sells a S30V 110 for $69. Best damn deal around on S30V from any maker.

The Custom Shop 112's truly are really rare...I have 2 and wish I had a dozen more! I think the fundraiser was a run of 175.A few years ago you could send one in to Buck and get a BG-42 [Maybe 100 at most] blade put on..Thats the one you NEVER,NEVER see!

Buck custom shop 110's in S30V start at $86. with 5 varieties of wood handles to choose from at that price, and the option of nickel silver bolsters. The custom shop S30V blades do not sport a titanium aluminum nitride coating that the Cabelas Alaskan Guide has, though I'm not really sure how much of a practical difference it makes.

CDNWIDE, I don't know. I think the two choices you see are the alpha hunter and the 110. Click Pick the 110. Scroll down to Choose a Blade. Then go to Choose a handle. Drag the grey slider bar under the first two handles to the right and you'll see a dozen handle options, total. The 5 woods you can get at the lowest price are walnut, oak, cherry, fiji-orangewood and indigo-royalwood. I'm not sure if the indigo wood is a true wood or a stain, or a synthetic. Indigo Royalwood is not a name of a true wood to my knowledge, but I'm not an expert on the world's exotic woods.

Oh, exotic woods. Would I ever love to see these options in the custom shop:

Tulip Wood, African Purpleheart, Tiger Wood, Gabon Ebony, New England Black Walnut, Mahogany, Zebra Wood, Flame Maple (like you see on fine violins), Asian Chrysanthemum... :)
