Morning,

I have a Buck 705 with 2 broken blades I will be sending in, I understand it’s no longer made and a modern replacement is a 303.
What does Buck do with the knives they recieve they are no longer made, keep parts for warranty repairs?!

My understanding is that they have parts for repair up until the point where they run out. After that, my experience has been that they will send you a similar knife or give you a discount on a new knife. This assumes that the blades were not broken through misuse. Call them and ask if they have replacement blades. Also ask about what your options are.

I already know what replacement I will be getting.. Thank you for the reply. I was just wondering if Buck factory keeps discontinued knives with broken blades they won’t replace .. would they keep the older warrantied Knives other parts for use? Given the factory is closed today just figured I’d ask if anyone knows on here

I think it’s possible but not probable that they do. There is a post on here somewhere in which a member sent in a 700 series knife within the last couple years and had it fixed but I don’t remember if any parts were replaced. I do remember being surprised that Buck was able to help.

I can’t find the post for lack of a good word to search for but I remember it.

I know a few fellas have scrounged up some used 700s series knives for parts knives and then made one good knife out of two or three broken ones. If you can find someone who does repairs on slip joint knives that might be the way to do it.

That’s good to know thank you

I couldn't find a post that mentioned a repaired 700 series, but I did find this thread from March of this year:

Post in thread 'Buck Warranty' https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/buck-warranty.1980359/post-22544927

As for the question of what Buck does with non-repairable knives, I would suggest contacting Matt Buck Knives Inc. Buck Knives Inc.
possibly after the Christmas holiday. He will be able to best answer your questions.
I’ll have to see about contacting him. Thank you

Most of the time the knives we receive through warranty are very damaged and not worth salvaging. We have torn apart some models where parts are hard to come by but those rarely get sent in these days. Any knife that is sent in for warranty and is not repairable is ground to make the locking mechanism or blade unusable and scrapped.
