Hi all,
I would like to know opinions about the Buck Rush from owners or people with knowledge about this knife.
Thanks!

Lperez.

hi, welcome to the forums.

what state do you live in? even though they are considered an 'assisted opener', you want to be careful about carrying one if switchblades are illegal in your state. regardless of what people say here regarding their legality, it's possible that if you're caught with one you may have to go to court facing misdermeanor charges to find out what the court thinks about your knife. chances are that will never happen, but be sure to understand what your local knife laws are, and that depending on where you live, it's possible you could be hassled for carrying such a knife.

now that's out of the way, the buck rush is probably a decent knife, i fooled around with one once. if you're interested in assisted openers, other knives to check out are kershaw onion's, camilius HEAT, and the more expensive benchmade apparition. the crkt m-16 also is a cool knife that can be flipped open with a flipper. i like it because it flips open without needing a spring, making less likely to draw attention from the law, plus it's fun to play with. Also, check out benchmade AXIS lock knives, a popular inexpensive one is the griptilian and mini-griptilian. of all the quick opening knife types, the axis locks are probably my favorites.

yea i have a buck rush. its a pretty sturdy knife for the price and it is definitely fast opening once u kno how to do it well. the only thing is that when i got mine it was very dull (compared to my other knives) so a good sharpening is a must. its taken a lot of abuse from me, including throwing it at doors and the like (i play with my knives when im drunk) and it still worked perfectly fine. and its one of the thinner knives so it doesnt take up much space when clipped to the pocket (compared to my crkt 21-04). overall, i would def. recommend this knife

I've got a Rush and so does my wife. She likes hers better than I like mine. I like the Sirrus better cause it is bigger. It's basically the same knife. I also went with the closed handle configuration and I got one with the ATS34 steel. But all in all, I like the Rush. I've got a few other assited's too. I like 'em all.

I've heard of some people having problems with the lock not staying locked, but they sent it back to Buck and Buck fixed the problem. Buck is great on service.

Buck rush's are decent.. If you haven't looked into the Kershaw Leek you may want to. In my opinion they are a better knife for the money, and still have the assisted opening. The leek is a awesome EDC (every day carrier) and works well. The leek may be a couple dollars cheaper too. Here a picture of one...

i do not like kershaw that much for the main reason that the thumb stud is lower that the actual frame. i can only open my baby boa with the action piece on the back of the blade. if i try to open it with the thumb studs, i have to dig my thumb in to get a good grip and it takes some effort to open. i went to wally world and looked at the leek and i saw the same problem, which is why i did not buy it. but looking at the picture now i see that it also has the action on the blade in the closed position so i just might go out and buy one

I agree that opening with the thumbstuds is difficult, but it doesn't since you have the vastly superior index-open feature.

Why use a thumbstud when you can just press a button?

On the Leek and similar Onion designs, the thumbstuds are really to stop the knife from opening any further. Rather than the spine of the blade contacting the handle, the thumbstuds contact the handle. This allows for very elegant lines.
