Buck Rush

What a cool name, huh? The Buck Rush...kinda like the term we used for tackling one another in grade school : Bum Rush. I like it.

I got this knife today in the mail....it was ordered on Ebay for 42 bucks shipped. The one I got is new in the box, EXCEPT it was engraved by Chuck Buck at a sportsman show for the previous owner. It reads "Chuck Buck '05".

My initial intention was to purchase a knife with a blade length I find to be ideal...and this is it. PERFECT. I like it because it isnt to big, and it isnt too small. Some of these shorter blades are too skinny, but the Rush is dead on.

When browsing the net, I was intrigued by the Midnight Blue version of this knife....but I for some reason passed it up for the this Chuck Buck engraved Platinum version...and BOY am I happy! I think the silver handle looks SO much better in person...it was pretty ugly in all the internet pics.

The fit and finish is pretty nice on this knife...as nice as I see on the Kershaws. The knife is very sturdy and soild...Im sure the handle design helps reduce some of the weight of the metal. Lock up is perfect...and blade play is minimal. I get a little side-to-side if I really force the issue...but its nothing to think twice about

The blade shape is very neat....dagger-like...and the blade edge is pretty sharp out of the box. Not Kershaw sharp, but sharp.

The safety/lock and flipper are unique on this knife. You slide a little lever down for the safety, and then flip the flipper down like any other AO knife. The spring assist is very aggressive, snapping this blade into placeq quickly, and with a nice "clack!". It opens equally as well with the thumb stud. I'd guess that the spring kicks in after only 10 degrees of manual opening, which is cool, but might cause trouble with a LEO.

Overall I love the knife so far. Its the PERFECT size for me...its light yet solid....the AO feature is smooth and addicting...and it seems to be ready to slice about anything I throw at it.

I give it a 9/10 because I don't think there's really a "10" out there...
