Buck Script 506.

Since it's been 2 hours and no one has replied...….Not an expert by any means on these, but have seen them several times.
I believe you are correct in the micarta scale, but as you likely see the tip has been broken off and re-ground. I doubt Buck has any Script blades to do a repair but might be able to put a new one in. Those script tang stamps came out for a short period as model started, someone else will know. 300

Originally named the "Lady Buck" it was renamed "White Knight" early on. The scales are (were) white linen micarta. The resins have yellowed with age on these.

Correct gents. That models original name was 'Lady Buck'. It came out in early 1979. By late 79 the marketing dept. changed the name to White Knight, to make an appeal to males. The handle is ivory micarta. Your knife has been retipped. I hope you can
live with this as there is no chance Buck could produce a new blade for it. I rarely see a 506 offered for sale. They were discontinued probably 20 yrs. ago. Hang on to it and thanks for posting. DM

You guys are awesome!

My wife loves this knife and was bugging me about keeping it and possibly giving it to our daughter, if and when we have one. The lady buck shall stay in the family!

My dad and I found it today at an antique store for $3.00. Couldn’t pass it up.

$3! That was a find!

I knew it was a White Knight, I did not know it was originally a Lady Buck. I always learn something from you folks. The ivory linen Micarta has yellowed a bit as it has aged, but real ivory will sometimes do that, as well. Oils from hands, and etc. will do this to bone, micarta, and ivory.

Johnny, of this series the 500 & 501 have endured. I seem to recall someone showed me a 505 some years back but not the 503, 506 or 507. The script stamp was replaced with the block lettered stamp in (around) 94. Also, these models were made with polished stainless steel bolsters and frame. But that was changed to nickle silver in 2003. So, you stumbled on to some Buck history with your 506. Six knives in the 500 series. DM

Does anyone have any info on this one? I’m curious about the date and the scale material, I’m guessing it’s micarta, but I’m not entirely sure. Also the blade has been re-tipped correct?

Thanks in advance guys.

Nice find, Johnny. I don't think your 506 blade is reshaped. My Lady Buck is unused. Have fun with the knife.

Outside of the re-tip the knife is in excellent shape. It’s hard not to throw it in the watch pocket and carry one. I can see this being an excellent small game/vest knife.

Like haebbie said above (post #12) I'm not convinced your knife has been retipped. Measure from the bolster, see how close you are to 1 7/8". Sometimes a tad shy of that. These small blades tended to have a bit of belly, especially the earlier ones.

Haebbie, has a point.
Ima, I know the felt pouch came with the 507 and it could have come with the 506. It's rare I find one. DM
