Buck Selector question

Hi, I'm new to this site, and I'm hoping someone here can help with a couple questions I have.

Recently I purchased a Buck Selector knife. I also purchased two spare V52 Selector blades. At the time I did not know there was a Selector and a v52 Selector. Now that I know it, I have several questions:

A: How can I tell for sure which version my knife is? (The spare blades are still in their new packaging, so no question about them.)

B: Will V52 blades work in a non-v52 handle?

C: How many blade styles were made?

D: Is there a source for blades other than e-bay?

Thanks for your time,
Allen

Ok, here's what I know (or think I know). The "Selector" came out in the 1990 catalog and was called simply that, the Selector. It came with one non-removeable blade (a clip) and one removeable/replaceable blade.

In the 1991 catalog, they added the "V52 Selector" which is just a single blade version of the original. They don't show the original in the '91 catalog, but it's still in the price list so it was probably still being produced.

Unless your knife has the non-removeable clip blade and a removable second blade, you have a V52.

The blades appear to all be the same on the pivot end, so I believe that any of them will work. I'd almost bet next months beer money on it.

I have no idea where to get blades other than the source that you mentioned. That's where I got mine.

Thanks for the info! Mine has a single removeable blade (drop), so I guess it is the V52. The extra blades should fit then. Glad I didn't waste the cash on something that wasn't going to work. Hopefully I can find some of the others before too long.

Thanks for the very helpful picture too!

There were at least 10 blades made for the V52 Selector and 3 different handle colors. It was still shown in the 94 catalog. DM

Your welcome. Some of those blades are hard to find. Plus, most of them are made of 425M steel. DM

I just realized today that one of the Selectors I have came with a hawkbill blade. I like that!!
