hello,

i got last weekend another buck in my little buck collection, my 2. selector, black handle, drop point and hawkbill blade, sheath, paperwork, all new in orig box, was an lucky find for that $12, the other one i have with different blades but new in box also was around $25 say 9 years ago, all in usa, im from swiss and joust emigrated.

i now its collectable but i want at least carry one of them, i looking for spare blades, sawblade etc, where should i look for that and in what pricerange they are? what is that knife worth usually? no i dont want sell it joust now from the experts here.

as i make my own knives worst case i could make an couple blades myself, using higher quality steel like s30v and different shapes.

also if somebody has an selector or 110 rocker/locking bar for sale please let me now as i may make me one with g10 scales and clip for real use and save the two buck.

its sad that this model did not stay longer in production, with an economical price it sure would sell today.

Swiss, Welcome to the Buck forum. The Selector blades and handles may be found on the bay, running 40-$50 depending on condition. For spare parts you could check at pawn shops to procure a badly worn 110 or contact Leroy Remer at 619-561-2442.
Yes, the Selector ran its course all too quickly. I just didn't get enough of them. Buck offered 9 different blades w/ 3 different handles. A very portable, light, utility knife with enough features to interest anyone. MANY here like them which your sure to hear from. I've made many different blades for mine as well. I just don't lose interest for them.DM

thanks for the ansver david,

i will look around and keep my eyes open.

buck company sure still has the tooling etc, it would be nice to do another run of those, maybe limited, sure it would sell as an limited edition in this huge country.

may have found an source for at least the sawblades, will post if it works.

The blades sell for $10 to $15 each and are also available on eBay from time to time. There are actually ten different blade styles; clip point, serrated clip point, drop point, serrated drop point, gut blade, serrated gut blade, skinner, saw blade, hawksbill and serrated hawksbill blades. You can also find a serrated hawksbill blade with the LL Bean etch on the blade. There are three Valox handle colors; black, olive drab and orange. There are two handle styles. The 428 holds two blades in the handle, a non-removable clip blade and any of the others. The 429 holds one exchangeable blade. There is a black version of the 429 that has Edde Bauer on the handle making four potential versions of the 429. Thus there are seven different handles to find. Hope that helps.

The Buck custom shop and Leroy Remer have also produced 110 selectors with various handle styles. I have custom blades for those knives as well which include polished and Damascus versions of the above blades. The stock blades are satin finished.

Richard, I've not seen the serrated hawk bill blade you mention nor does it show it on the paper work of my blades. Of the handles I've seen the V52 black, olive and orange. Then I've seen the twin 428 not the rest. So, thank you for your posting. DM

The serrated hawksbill blade is number 42836D. It was never shown in the catalogs but were sold for construction work I suppose. You can find them on eBay every once in a while.

i have sutch an serrated hawkbill blade for my selector, will make an pic soon.

never saw the 2 blade version of the selector, have to look closer at the next blade show buck collectors table.

the serrated hawkbill blade has no stamp either, i dont open that one. the fully serrated drop point blade has no stamp and the handle of this is different of the other one, the selector marking is turned and the pattern on the handle is looking in an different direction. inside the handle i see that the plastic is solid, the other has slots etc to save plastic. workmanship is by both the same.
