I just ordered a Buck Sentry. I was looking at the Reaper also, but decided on the Sentry. What should I expect?

I was looking at the Sentry myself, but wound up ordering the Intrepid XL instead. Should be here tomorrow. Let us know what you think of the Sentry when you get it. Although Plumberdv has a good review in his link, the more the merrier. :D

Nice review. Thank you. Looks like I might have made the right decision in not buying the Sentry. I guess we'll find out if the Intrepid XL is actually a better choice (for me) or not. Unfortunately, the handle material that you complained about is the same molded nylon, just in a different pattern.

I chose the Sentry because of the blade shape. 1- I don't like tanto type blades like the Intrepid. If it were a drop or spear point I would have bought the XL as well.
I figured all the new Bucks are essentially the same other than size and shape. I found this Sentry for well under what I should have paid. Plus the Sentry has a little bit better sheath.
I wanted a knife to tackle the tasks that I don't want to use my Blind Horse. Last camping trip my 01 BH got a good potato patina dicing spuds. I wasn't happy.
I will take it along when we go to Yellowstone later this month.

My Sentry arrived today. Pretty impressive for a. Sub-$50 knife. The sheath is almost identical to my RD4's sheath, but with some upgrades.
One thing I don't like is the way the blade transitions to the serrated area. Mine is a recessed 90 degree angle. It might cause problems. I'll post a pic in a few.
