Buck Sheath Repair?

I found a very nice 1989 110FG yesterday with the box and brown leather sheath. Unfortunately the snap on the sheath had failed (the "cup" attached to the body of the sheath had come loose and was stuck to the "post" on the flap -- not sure about those terms but should be clear enough to understand the issue) so I passed on it for now.

This got me wondering -- (1) is this something that Buck could repair, and (2) would the Forever Warranty cover it?

Can they distinguish the year or would they say here's a sheath laying around and send him that. It would be replaced not repaired.

Replacing a snap is pretty simple, and any leather working shop can do it. Or, you can do do it yourself, with the correct punch/anvil combination, and a new snap (probably a size "line 20" or "line 24" snap). Snap kits are available on amazon for not much money (maybe $15), or from dedicated leather companies like Weaver Leather Supply (cost is quite a bit higher). There are plenty of videos online, demonstrating how to attach a snap, and other leather work, too.
