My belt loop on my old 110 leather sheath (blck) broke. I tried using the tan sheath that came with my Workman 110, but it rides a LOT higher. I prefer the knife to hang much lower on the belt. Do all the more current sheaths ride high?

yes, except for the cordura sheaths, they are ok,all my new sheaths are useless to me because thy changed the ride height for the sheaths......why go and mess up a good thing, the low ride sheaths were perfect, with a wide belt loop to keep the sheath from flopping around while its on the belt. This is my only real complaint about bucks.its a different proces they are using to make th nw leathr 110 sheaths too, holds the knife way too tight to the point that some will push the blade past the closed position and into the frame, causing small nicks in the blade.

when did this start? Is there any way to tell one of the older sheaths by looking at pics online?

I have the same complaint. I prefer the knife to ride lower on my belt. It's much more comfortable. Here's a custom that I bought that I use for EDC.

I have seen those Buck stamped sheaths with the leather thong gizmo recently on a famous auction site that starts with a vowel. Think there is one there now.
Personally, I think they appear too bulky. I like the style Mike posted. I have a similar one from JB Wood and also the Buck cordura horizontals. Your mileage may vary.

Should be easy to make a new longer belt loop and stitch it on, or have someone do it for you. At the same time you would have to replace the original stitching, preferably with good heavy duty waxed nylon thread. Give the sheath a good coat of SnowSeal inside and out while you're at it, and it should last a long time.

Sheath I have is also too high riding...
