Evening,

For a Buck knife such as a 704, that had a metal shield on it, with the words Buck in black. What would be the best paint to repaint a bare metal logo?

A baked enamel or catalyzed urethane would hold up the best. Think automobile paint designed for exterior use.

Try some Testors enamel model paint from a hobby store. I’ve used orange on gun front sights and have used the black many times on bolt heads/nuts on my motorcycle to “black” them out and hide them. It holds up pretty darn well for a cheap cost.
