Buck slipjoints with Comfort Craft handles?

I have been big into slipjoints for a few years now, however I've had a buck slipjoint a lot longer than that. My first real knife was my Grandfather's 112 he gave me when I was 12. I picked up a Camillus era 301 a long while back and have had one along on many adventures since.

I began looking into getting another and realized I missed out on the gray charcoal and yellow handled versions from a few years back. The charcoal Dymondwood versions seem perfect but after a thorough search I believe they're all gone...

Aside from the new covers, it appears Buck is now offering a "melt" treatment called Comfort Craft that looks like it would feel fantastic. Do they feel as good as they look?

What all versions is Buck currently offering with the Comfort Craft treatment? Any chance the Charcoal Dymondwood coming back?

Also, I have an older 301(and an even older 307 I don't ever carry) but have never tried the other Buck Slipjoints. Should I try the 303 next or any other recommendations?

Mac, the gray Delrin handles have been a number of years (maybe 15+) but the smooth yellow have only been 3-4 years ago - I found several in stock at local gunshops in the the past year (302, 303, 309). There is a brown Dymondwood with brass bolsters series that seem to be currently in stock "out there" in pawnshops and gunshops - keep looking. As to the ComfortCraft - your post is the first I've heard of them. OH
Ps The Buck 303 is an excellent gentleman's knife - it is not big and heavy duty, but will do the vast majority of a gentleman's cutting chores.

Personally, I like the more classic shape. I think ComfortCraft is more of an end treatment and although it changes the appearance, the feel is only minimally altered, but then I have a very large hand. We won't know what 2016 has in store for us until the new catalog is out.

Very nice pictures OH! Thanks for the reply. The ComfortCraft treatment seems to be added to the Chairman Series (I don't love the signature) but also a free other series at random. I believe it's just a rounding of the bolsters and blade spines...

I would suggest the 301 and the 371 (Walmart has a 371 with brown jigged bone covers) and the 389 canoe.
I co-carry a 301 or 371 and the 389 every day, along with a 110 on my belt.

Comfort Craft is a trademarked description of the 300 series that started several years ago. You will see it in the knives with smooth bolsters, and silver round head rivets in the scales. Currently you see it in , the Chairman series (which started the marketing program), the discontinued smooth yellow and the brass bolstered and wood scaled models. It also has as a goal smoother edges, more rounded bolster end and overall a goal of careful finishing. ( I should get paid for writing this stuff....) The old black sawcut Delrin scaled model was not included at first, but I detect some rounding of the bolsters in the new knives.

Hey, Buck seems to give pretty good attention to finishing the multi-thousands of knives produced, while keeping prices down.
Some will slip out with a nic or a funny rivet head but they will generally fix your issue if you are willing to deal with them.

No matter the company you got to have some marketing angles, Comfort Craft is that type of program but it smoothed the edges of the 300s and hopefully will give credence to improved finishing and inspection.

I really liked those yellow Delrin scales. I do not have any at present, but do love the look. If they would offer these in yellow G10 Comfort Craft, that would be killer-diller.

300BUCKS, I take it then that my two Buck 303 Cadets shown above are Comfort Craft? Cool and nice to know. OH
