Buck has offered and or currently offers a Solitare but I'd really like to seem them offer a traditional Sodbuster pattern along the lines of the Queen Country Cousin and or the GEC Bullbuster.

They could even add it to the custom shoppe with different steel and scale options. I'd be all over a 3" version in D2 with burgundy micarta or 440c and elk.

I said this a while back in my " what do you wish buck made " thread.
However u
I'd settle for any form of American made Buck sodbuster pattern, especially if available in their diamondwood and without a nail nick.
a nail nick wouldn't be a complete deal breaker, but it's not a pattern that needs one. My sodbuster jr has a decently strong spring and is not hard at all to pinch open without even touching the nail nick.
I wouldn't want it to be a lockback, but again it wouldn't be a deal breaker.
Honestly what I want probably doesn't really need to be made from Buck though , it wouldn't be different enough from my Case and would probably cost more.
I'd love to have it though.

Funny thing is David Martin made a custom Sodbuster blade to go in his Buck Selector handle. I've longed for one a long long time after seeing his. Maybe he will drop a photo in here!

Ok, I sent the photo in to jbm. But many of us have family over, so be patient. I've made several useful blades for my Twin Blade Selector
but I've thought the sodbuster was hands down the most useful. So, yes I know your on the right path. DM

yep. sure would like one, but with a lockback. not a slip joint. i dont find those that useful without the lock.

course like usual i wish for a pocket clip.:)

Thanks, jbm. I did make it locking. I took this model apart and made it a 'both blades lock' model. I have since finished the 6" boning blade too. I used 01 steel for that. The sodbuster is made of 440C. A real nice general purpose, skinning, apple slicing blade. I thought the original saw blade was too short so I made one a full 4". DM

Buck also once offered the 424 and it had a drop point blade like the sodbuster.

yes Sir, you did and nicely done. meant if buck made one id want a lockback design much like yours.

Just thinking about this design... I would like it better if one blade disengaged at the rear and the other was a mid-lock. That way when you went to close it the thumb divots were more user friendly. DM
