I shipped an old 110 to Buck on 12/19/16 via Priority Mail, they received it on 12/22/16 per the tracking number. Today I received an email stating they had received it on 1/20/17 and would schedule it for service on 2/24/17. Most of you gents report much quicker service than this - does Buck shut down for a month each Christmas/New Years? Just wondering. OH

interesting. id imagine factory shuts down for retooling like most manufacturers in my business do over the holidays, but i have no idea about buck or any knife maker.

maybe a big backlog as well?

I'm just curious - I've got piles of knives to use, so I don't need it in a rush - just thought it odd to take a month to receive the package once it had arrived. Might of gotten lost in Buck's warehouse, etc. OH

Some of that could be slow shipping this time of year and that department may be helping to get orders out. New knives that were not shipped. Then the repair dept. Offically logged it in on that date and others are ahead of yours. DM

I talked to them about this just two weeks ago. I sent a couple in December 1st, they received on the 2nd and I got them back just over a week ago.
They have an enormous back log right now. I guess this time of year it is 6-8 weeks for turn around.

While on the subject of the spa service, does anyone know if they will accept payment by credit card when the invoice is ready or do you need to include cash with the shipment?

I paid by credit card. I just wrote the number on the warranty form. You can also just call them with it.

Thanks, good to know. I'm still waiting for the Christmas rush to settle before I send some in for the spa service.

Some strange things have been reported with the USPS recently as well. Personally, I had a package never arrive and another come a week late.

Typically this time of year is the busiest for our Warranty area. We can get up to 150 packages a day. Everyone sends their knives in when winter hits for SPA treatments or repairs. With 50 + years of knives to service it can be hectic. We are working on ways to improve this for you all as we do understand the frustration of lag time from the tracking showing received and the 1st communication from us. After April we are at a 2-3 week turnaround, and then we start getting hit In Sept and Oct with winter peaks.
For Spa treatments, you can send a check with or we will contact you for CC payment when we process your knives.

I hope this helps.

Hey, thanks Jeff for informing me (us) what's up. Like I said up top, I got a big pile of knives to use, so I'm good with waiting on that particular one. I was really simply curious as to what was up. Thanks again - your guys do a good job. Bruce (OH)

Just thought I'd let you know that Buck sent me an email with a tracking number this past Monday and the knife was delivered from ID to NC yesterday (2/9). Buck did a very nice job cleaning it up this old 110 and put a razor edge on it as well - they even seem to have reprofiled the original 440C edge into the 425M style. Nice job Buck! OH

Thanks for the explanation David - it is good work and I am happy with the result. Hard to capture in a photo, but apparent when compared to my other 2-Dot. OH
