Buck Special 119 - Edge2000?

I recently (today actually) bought a Buck Special at the local Walmart because my wallet was bugging me. Amazing knife, feels perfect, nice profile, but inside the box, there was no evidence that this blade had an Edge 2000 grind. I have some questions:

Questions:
1. Does the Buck Special come with a Edge 2000 grind?
2. If I send it to Buck to sharpen, will it come back with an Edge 2000?
3. Do I WANT a Edge 2000 blade for a camping knife that I don't plan to shave with?
4. Anyone know what angle the Buck is ground at?

Thanks

Try posting this in the Buck knives forum in the Makers / Mfgs section. I'd move it but I'm not a mod :( ;)

Yes, the 119 comes with Edge 2000. Knives made since early 1999 are E2K.
Buck generally will sharpen the edge it came with. You would need to ask for the knife to be upgraded to E2K.
Yes, Edge 2000 is an easier angle to sharpen and their tests show that it holds a much better edge than the same steel in the older edge
no clue. I sharpen most of mine on the 20 deg side of my sharpmaker and a couple on the 15 deg side. MMMV.
hope this helps.

I think that the edge2000 edge angle is like 30 degrees to 35 degrees overall. I use the 30 degree slot on my sharpmaker, works perfectly.

Check the date symbol on the knife withBuck's website. If it is 1999 or later, it should be Edge 2000 ground. I think the Anvil symbol is the 2002 Anniversary symbol.

Buck will reprofile your blade to Edge 2000 if you ask.

Edge 2000 is just a fancy way of saying 'hollow ground' right? The blade grind looks almost exactly like the leek, except it doesn't thicken towards the edge as much. The 199T (T must mean it was made in 2003 i guess) didn't come too sharp, that's why I wasn't too sure.

Buck hollow grinds all of their knives. The "T" is the 2003 symbol. You may have gotten the odd one that didnt get close enough to the sharpener. There is a noticable difference between the E2K and the old grind on the 119's.
