Buck Special Question

I have a MIB Buck Special that is stamped with "Buck USA" and the stamp is inverted.

Referring to my ‘Blade’s Guide To Knives and the Values’ I was able to learn that the inverted stampings started in 71-72 but got the impression this was in conjunction with Buck’s going to the three line stamp which they quickly changed to pommel down three line stamp.

I am assuming that I have a 67-71 model and all two line model’s stamping was inverted or read with the pommel up.

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm most pleased. Its as fine as the day it left the factory door. Lucked into it on Ebay actually.

Referring to my ‘Blade’s Guide To Knives and the Values’...

Just a general comment...There have been quite a few versions/revisions/guides released over the last few dozen years, some of which are chock full of errors...Not the fault of the article authors, some of whom are regular posters here (and elsewhere) and respected members of the BCCI and Buck/BKI itself...but the editors screwed the pooch quite a few times... :grumpy:

IIRC, the issue with the least errors, is this one -

as happens whenn great minds travel the same road ... i agree with bro trax..
but there is a LOT of info that is NOT in that edition ... and some of what is in there is slightly in error...
there is still a heck of a LOT that is ... as i was told >>
information here to-fore not known or issues not seen..

Since Fritz brought back his first post on Blade forum, I became curious about what it was that I posted for my first thread.
So this is it. Don't remember it at all.
I suppose i'll have to get a couple quality pictures of my 2-liner 119 to match Fritz's picture efforts as well. :)

Trax, I am counting on considerate critical comment should I be a info offender where fore as you speak.....
I won't be talking about any 110 stuff so Dave is off the hook on correcting me.....

Oh nostalgia, big difference between you and me though g, you knew what the heck your were talking about back then and I still continue to read and learn.........slowly. I still havent learned to take the good advise and direction of Craig to make a blind to cut out the glare. (in my defense[but not and excuse], I was in haste)
Notice the glare on the back bolster-inexcusable.......and I knew it as I took it:o

The guano makes the photo look realistic, not Spielburg, and gives scale to the knife.

I ran across, literally, gigantic grizzly bear droppings that were larger than my size 14 foot. I didn't think to take a photo of it with a knife for scale. The car actually slide a bit. It was in a parking lot in Yellowstone Park a few years ago.

A cereal box makes a good direct sun blocker on a bright day. Put the subject in the shadow then take the photo.

Buck switched from the bone hard fiber to Micarta spacers in 1970. That can narrow it a bit more.

The Buck literature I have says the switch was made in 1969 but we've been over this before and its a small item . DM

Yes, late '69 would actually be my best guess rather than January 1, 1970, and corresponds with some old J.H. info from this forum.....I don't think anybody claims any more precision than that. We're talking about guessing within a few months.

:)

Yes, we've hashed it enough to know this is true . 'Within a few months' is good for me as well . DM
