I am curious if anybody has any information on Buck's fixed-blade tangs- specifically on the Buck Special. Full? Half? Dare I say- rat tail?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is thicker than a rat tail. Bucks are generally stronger by far than a Kabar, but do not think a Buck can pry like a Mod 4 or Campanion.

Still, it is strong enough for most uses.

Hey, that's something I was wondering about, myself. Thanks for the info.

It's what I would call a full lenght stick tang. Aluminum pommel is attached with a pin.

That could sound scary. How thick is this pin?

The pin is a pretty good size, I doubt you could snap it out. This method has been used for years on various knives(Western to military issue knives), and I have never seen a tang pin sheared accidently:).

HTH:D:).
