Recently discovered the Squire online, and think it would be a perfect fit for my dad. I gave him an Opinel which he trashed pretty good at work, and let it rust pretty badly. I've instructed him on how to be a little easier with knives, but am looking for a replacement.

The 110 is too big, he'll never carry it. I'm loving the size and weight specs, made in USA (Right?), buck's stainless is very good, etc... But I've never handled one of these and am looking for some pictures to push me over the edge, does anyone have any pics? Or any other similar knife that you think he might like more?

Goodeye, yes the 501 is a good model to carry . Its features are compelling, thin, light, portable and locking blade of 2.75" . Guys here have those photos and will post them shortly . DM

goodeye, sorry no 501, the piece of the slimline puzzle I'm missing but consider this pic. Top left is a 503 which is next size smaller and 4th from left on top is a 500 which is one size larger and you can compare them against the 110's and 112's in the pic

373 and 371 between them

Plum will have good comparison pics for sure

oh and yes they are absolutely USA made

Thanks Ima . Goodeye, there is a photo of one in the thread 'Knife and Guns' post # 126 . Its a 501 from the Master series w/ BG-42 steel . Ima, are either of your 100yr. series have the etching on the blade ? DM

Here's a comparison photo of a 500, a 112 and a 501. The 501 is a great little pocket knife.

Plumber, right on ! Thanks . Not to highjack this thread (please excuse me) but those coins are scarce . Buck gave the last of them out at the 20yr. reunion so if you have one hang on to it . DM

I didn't know that David. Did you get one?

Here are the two 501's in my herd. The 501 is a nice size for pocket carry.

Yes . We were given one for each member present ... one for me and one for Sarah . Which equals the 100yr. knives I have . Only two a 110 and 119 . I think there were two others, the 112 and your 501 and I think they all came with the coin if you got it in the gift box . DM :)

David were the coins silver?

Sky, No-- I don't think they contained any percious metal it was the imprinting/stamping scene and wording that made them valuable and the one time offering in 2002 . More like a Rookie's starting year baseball card that went on to make it big . Buck memorabilia . DM

Just for the heck of it, here's my new(er) 501 (my 6,000 hour safety award along with a 112 and a 110. As far as being a pocket knife, mine came with a sheath! I think your dad will love it!
