Buck Squire - weak spring

Hi folks,

just got a new Buck Squire, unboxed it and noticed a rather weak spring.

To show that I included the pic below.
When gently closing the blade you manage to leave the knife partially open, tip exposed. The spring is too weak to pull the blade in on all occasions.

Note that this is a factory new knife, so no pocket lint and stuff but a clean freshly oiled knife.
I suspect this to worsen when in use.

Any opinions about that?
I have a strange feeling about this.

I do like the 501, easy knife to carry and use.
There may not be any lint from carry but when the knife is finished at the factory some of the debris and polishing compound gets packed in there. Flush with soap, hot water, WD 40 then use compressed air to blow it out. Reoil, repeat as necessary. If all fails to remedy the situation send it back to Buck they will take care of it. It's to bad that this happens to some of their knives but it does from time to time/product to product. HTH

Thanks for your reply.
The knife looks pretty clean on the inside and there is no such thing as a crunch when opening or closing.

I hesitate doing a lot of work when I can send it back to the shop for this issue.

I am sorry about that, please send me a message with your address so I can get a pre-paid label and get it back here.

I just sent a 055 back for the same reason I bought a couple weeks ago.
I should have contacted Buck first for a pre paid label.
I tried cleaning and oiling with no luck.

Thanks for your offer, Ive handled this with my dealer.

The knife was send back and checked "without finding any issues". They claimed it was me that maybe had a strange sense of spring tension.

Well....

The spring seemed a bit weak on my larrin 501 for a bit. Just needed some oil to work into the joint. I also re glued one of the scales back on after repeated drops, and a bit of the adhesive crept in through one of the pin holes, after scraping that out it's pretty fine... I've wondered since if that might be something that happens from the factory on occasion.

I can’t believe they just didn’t send you a new replacement knife.
are you sure your dealer even sent it back to Buck?
I just talked to Buck’s warranty department yesterday. The lady I talked to said they were 12 weeks behind.

I got my money back and doubt they will send it to Buck.
More likely its in the shelf again. Because there is no issue.🫣

So the knife was never sent back to Buck? Because the way you wrote it made it sound like Buck was screwing you.

I got a 500 from C@C that had the exact issue. I thought about it for a couple days and decided to just send it in to Buck.

Fairly quickly it was fixed and returned. I think it worked out well.

I live in germany, and the knife was bought online from inside my country.
Buck was not directly involved. I dealed with the shop.
I cant tell what the shop is doing with that very knife, my assumption from their reaction is they shelve it and sell it again.
