I've been carrying my Buck Canoe pretty exclusively for the past few months now, even though I have and love my Red wood Buck Trio. It is a Bass Pro Shop exclusive, and a beautiful knife. However, why on Earth are these medium stockman so friggin wide!?!?!? I mean, it's a pocket knife, yet it is not very pocket friendly!! I love the stockman pattern, and like I said, the red wood Trio is very nice to look at. Brass with the red and the stainless steel make for a very pretty knife. The heftiness makes for a really comfortable grip, I must admit. But man, I totally feel it in my pocket.
Anyone else have issues carrying a Trio/Cadet?

I have compared the current Buck 3-spring cadet to an old Camillu-Buck 2 spring Cadet and find no difference in width.

I have also compared my 3 7/8" Buck 301 to my Schrade 80T. They are both the same width.

A stockman is a working knife. It does tend to be a bit thicker than a Canoe.

the 303 comparison is below, tha one with brass spacers is the Camillus Buck:

I have a Camillus Buck 301 tht I have carried in my pocket "every day" on and off for 37 years. I think that speaks enough for its performance as a pocket knife :)

As far as everyday feel of width, I believe it is a "moot" point. Weight is more of an issue than "thickness" for me. One of the 'rest of the story' issues to be aware of is the difference in non-standard scales. Natural material scales can vary in thickness if width is an issue for you. See photo for difference in two buffalo scales, works the same for stag or ram.

I never have carry issues for 301s,303s or 313s because I use pocket pouch. If I carry a big 307 I use belt sheath. A 303 just fits in the watch pocket of jeans with watch pockets. But my middle age shape and my desire for a cell phone pocket, put me in the carpenters jean world. I am almost getting to the point I don't care what women think of my jeans, I would rather have my tools and be attractive to dogs and kids.
