Hey guys,

Some of my first "nice" knives were Bucks. I am getting a little sentimental. I'd like to get a 301 stockmen for old times's sake. But I really want a 301 with SS bolsters and liners. Doe this one have SS bolsters and liners? How is the QC on the newer bucks? Thanks

As you correctly pointed out the Dymondwood are nickelsilver, those are all Stainless, checked the 09 catalog description. (Didn't want to be wrong twice).......if you get a sawcut poly scale 300 it will be SS bolsters and liners. Someone will be along for backup and give a amen on this. 300Bucks

That's good for me.
Btw, how the fit and finish on the 2009 batches. Are they comparable to Case and Queens?

God Bless

Kwl,

Well, I haven't handled a Case or a Queen for 09 or even 08, actually haven't handled a 09 sawcut Buck, so someone may be able to answer.

This is such a subjective question. I can tell you that I have looked at other knives that were polished up better than most Bucks, others whose edges were just as tight as any Buck but they were 'other' knives. They just didn't make me want to change brands. They are the pretty girls of my youth, there to raise my blood pressure, but never there to touch my heart. With my Buck in my pocket, it's me and it against the world. Partners in the struggle.......it just is right. If that feeling ever leaves I will look at some other kind.

Well 300, you are a bona fide buck fan. Your devotion to Buck knives is an inspiration to all knife lovers. Hats off you ya. Let me put this thread up in Traditionals and let other have a shot at the question.

Btw, 300, which slipjoint model is "The slipjoint" of the Buck lineup. Just your opinion. Thanks

God Bless

I have a long association with the black sawcut models. Little old man who sold me the first one at the army/navy store is to blame. I can still drive by the building but A/N is long gone. That was back in the black and whiteTV days.

I wrestle with 303 and 313 but 80/20 favor the 303. I like the old 303 Schrade Bucks as a vintage knife. Then I like the 80s 303s with BUCK shields and 425m blades. I also like 313 Muskrats but there are no choices and all were made by Camillus and most likely are 440a.
Of modern 303 choices I favor the 90s LE Brown Jigged Bone with medallion. Or one of the newest Pearl scales. Especially the really rare Black Pearl. Have a 08 303 with Chuck Bucks signature on the blade I use to open mail.

KWL I have field dressed deer with the 303 and held legs out of the way twice while a elk was gutted with one. There you go........300Bucks
