I am having quite the dillema here; I am either going to buy a Benchmade soon, either the 705, 940, or 720, or the Buck/Strider 880 mini. Now, I know the Benchmades are all unquestionably great knives, but I really like the look of the B/S 880.
I was wondering if the Buck/Strider 880 mini had any redeeming qualities over the Benchmade knives. Please do post if you have any experience with this knife!

Thanks!

It depends on what you want the knife for. The Buck Strider is going to be stronger, a pocket hatchet of a knife, will hold up under some prying, too. The Benchmades will be more understated, more elegant, faster to deploy maybe, smoother opening. Buck for the woods or the factory, Benchmade for the office.

agreed with esav.

except, i tend to carry my 881 "in the office" as well. works great.

go for the 881, i say. but make sure you get the revised model "tactical 881." they can be found at tadgear.com.

Good points all around. These are thick knives, both handles and blades, so it may be prudent to check one out, if possible before buying. One other point is that these are liner-locks. Thick and reliable. That may also be a factor important to you. I happen to like the mini-Striders, but sometimes they arent too pocket friendly. Ive discovered that the minis fit perfectly in the leather sheath for my old Buck 112 Ranger. Good luck picking one out.
