Buck Strider 880 ....

You will be very happy and well served by the Strider/Buck I have both the 880 and the 880 SP and have put these knives to hellish tests. I use the 880SP Daily but the 880 Tanto comes out for the really hard nasty jobs.

I own the Strider GB but actually prefer my Strider Buck for carry and use.

Its a great knife one of the best production knives I have ever bought, and I feel its worth twice as much I just want to get the Strider Buck Fixed blade next!

after all, it's a Buck :)
I do have the Strider GB coming too .... but the Buck 880 will be here much sooner!

Platnium,

Take a look at this thread.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=231135

I used my 880Sp and 880 for about 1 year before I thought of doing this, sanding the sides of the G-10.

I sanded the 880SP Spear Point a lot more than the 880 Tanto. The 880SP feels like my GB in hand.

Sanding the 880 sides down improves the knife just that little bit and it also shows the Strider Buck that you love it!

I'll have to wait until I get my Buck Strider 880, hopefully this coming Monday. But, I probably will leave it as is.

Thanks again,

Yeah thats what I did with the Tanto but modified the Spear Point a bit ;)

There was someone on the forums doing some super mods to the Buck/Striders I mean they were wicked looking. I'll see if I can find a pic.

I really like this knife ---(sorry, had to log in under my old user ID instead of Platinum....long story).

This is one heck of a well built knife, I must say. More so than I imagined it would be!

110% satisfied with this purchase - now to go and have fun with it :)

There was one done WAY back by Neil Blackwood for KodiakPA, pictures were on Photopoint so they are gone, might want to see if Kodiak still has them.

Someone to check with about doing mods on a knife would be Bandito here on the forums I believe.

Does work like this:

Along with a hammer, I've used mine as a chisel before. No tip breakage, no chipping. The edge was dulled, only needed minor sharpening.

The only thing I'm worried about is wearing of the stop pin. However, even if it is completely dented from impact to the blade or flick opening, you can switch it with the remaining two spacer pins (they are exactly the same). This means the knife will probably last for many many years, and the only fix necessary is that I will require new spacers.

I actually have two of the Buck/Striders enroute that I am going to customize and put on my page for sale.

Probaly put bolsters and Carbon Fiber or micarta or something like that behind it........should be fun.
