Im going to be sending it to you for a low ride clip soon, but what else can you do to a buck 880?? i need ideas on how to give you money lol:eek:

Maybe reprofile the edge to make it somewhat of a better slicer for such a thick edge unless you like obtuse???
Otherwise they are damn fine knives and pretty complete. I wish I'd have kept my first production run BG42 880 I had. Nice knife!

i just disassembled it, i bought it used and the person befor me i think never oiled it so i cleaned it and lubed it with some synthetic grease, and WOW its so smooth:):) this may replace my endura.

The low rider is $30 of course and reprofiles run $10 so those two and shipping.

Thanks. This is a different than expected turn for you. Here I thought you were the die hard Spydie fan. :D

i know lol its so big and clunky and not that sharp lol. but i would rather have this in my pocket for edc than my spyder edge endura.

if you reprofiled it how strong would the edge still be. sorry excuse my ignorance but i have no idea in this matter.

I reprofiled my own 881 with no problems holding a 15` edge on my EdgePro. I think most modern blade steels can hold this angle fine but I guess it depends on the kind of cutting you do routinely with your knives though. For example, if you are cutting a lot of heavy gauge wire or something I'd probably leave it obtuse. Thing is though that blade is still plenty thick even at that angle so I doubt it will be any trouble.

I don't think I have any clue what is needed to do that. Honestly I have never been asked that. Maybe but I'll have to look into it. Sorry I missed this. Didn't see the post highlighted yesterday at all.

i just got another buck and this one has a little up and down blade play any tips on how to fix this??

A very high % of those 880s and 881 have rocking blades due to the contact point of the lock more than anything else. Most of the ones I examined closely contacted more in the middle third of the lock instead of the lower third as it should. On some, including my own I was able to get this out but it required taking them apart and taking down a bit of contact in the middle so only the lower part of the lock contacted the blade.

Now the good news on those usually built this way is that many times the lower as well as the middle did contact the blade so you could take out the middle and still have a contact, but in time the middle should wear to eventually reach that point on its own.

On two, including one I owned it was necessary to modify the contact due to the amount contacting in the middle third though. I don't know why Buck let so many out the door with this but I saw quite a few there at the peak of the sales in those models. I also noted on more than one forum that others noticed this rocking blade syndrome also and usually when one came up for sale this was the first question asked. You typically saw replies where the owner had to admit there was a tad of blade play. The ones that were solid were highly praised though.
