Buck Strider 880SP question

I was on the Buck website the other day and it mentioned that the 880SP is now built with 154cm instead of ats34 though the other buck striders still say ats34. Is this a typo, or is buck switching over?

I've heard they stop collaboration with Strider, so possibly a typo.

I believe 154cm is the US version of Ats-34.
They are very similar metals. Buck did start using 154cm in '06 I believe.
Good steel either way!

Buck used 154CM several years ago on a Custom 532, can't wait to get a 110 with 154CPM

i think that is one nice knife scott!
on the ats- it is jap steel, a good one that is a COPY of 154cm

IMHO haveing read the law governing marking things USA ...
it is jest wrong to stamp usa on ats34 steel

and evdently buck also agreed as they quit useing ats 34...
for a looker and user the 154 is wonderfull , takes a high polish
for a user the s30v was designed soley as a knife steelit
it has a high resistance to croason and is hard to beat
with a bos heat treat!:thumbup:

i thought "ats" steels came from hyundia, which is a korean company?

ATS-34 is a Hitachi steel, a Japanese company. 154CM is a crucible steel, an American version.
