Hey guys, I'm just curious if the thumbstuds on the newer Buck/Strider 881s are removable. I believe the single thumbstud ones have a screw? Is it possible, with enough gripping force (like pliers perhaps?) to unscrew the dual thumbstuds from the blade?
I'm interested because I'm thinking of having one sent to a custom maker to have the blade modified. So if anyone knows, that information would be great.
I'm also curious if Buck's warranty/repair dept still stocks pieces for the knife, because I'm buying one, but it is in pieces and has no screws (I think the major parts are still around and kicking, I'll have to see when I get it). It would be nice if I could send it in to Buck and have them repair it (obviously at a cost since it is definitely no longer under warranty).
Thanks in advance!
