Does anyone EDC one of these? I picked one up and have been EDCing it for a few days now. This thing had a THICK blade. It cuts pretty good for the thickness of the blade.

I had a question about the liner. It looks as if the tip of the liner (what comes into contact with the blade) has been heated, is this done to prevent wearing of the liner?

Thanks,
John

Yes,its a great edc,I have the 880 sp and it has the same blue heat treat marks on it,it is done to make it a little more wear resistant, and it does work.

It was hardened at the contact area. A lot of makes are and I do that also on my own but then bead blast the color off except for the actual area that contacts the blade. For some reason they elected at Buck to leave it.

I have one that I've frequently carried also. The 881 is one of my favorite little liner lock models.

Wow...add this to my book of "What I Learned Today".

I have two 881 (Spear and Lone Ranger's Buddy points) and a 880 that I have been EDC'ing for a few days now.

Can somewhat see the blueing on the 881 knives that I have had for several months, but it is very noticeable on the new 880.

Cool. I love the crap I learn here

Thanks guys for the post. I rarely see topics about these knives. I heard about them, but never gave it too much thought. After holing one in my hand, I knew I wanted one. I like the small size of the 881, it is very close to the same size as the 112. I am now thinking of getting the larger version also. These things are built like a tank.

Thanks,
John

I used a 881SP for my EDC while deployed to Iraq. Excelent folder and it took all the abuse I could throw at it. It is a thick knife and IMO does not carry well in regular jeans or pants, but carries quite well in a DCU/BDU/ACU pocket. I picked up an 882 when I got back and I think it just carries better. Thats what I taking back with me this fall for tour #2.
