Picked this up a while back, as I do not collect Buck Knives I was wondering if this model had much collector interest? (I have focused on a couple other makes for the past several yrs)

I sent it to Buck as the 1st 1/4" of the blade wasn't sharpened (thought they just missed it) and here was the reply.

"As for the Hollow grind, this knife was a 1st production run and that is how the grind is supposed to look. We cannot re-grind it."

Anyway, its a nice enough fixed blade. Just looking for some info.
I really like using BG-42, but will hold off if its a big deal to the Buck enthusiasts.

Being its a first production run, and its made with BG-42, it is quite valuable to those that collect Buck/Striders. If its unused and mint value is probably in the $125-$175 ballpark. Do you have the original box? If you do a search on online auction sites you can get a pretty good idea of value on these. The later model with ATS-34 steel usually sells for around $100 +/- NIB. I wouldn't be afraid to use it ;) Its a nice knife!!!!

Thanks for the quick reply!

No problem, I should point out though, I am not an expert. ;)

Buck also no longer produces knives with BG-42, it is gaining more and more for collector value! Also the Buck/Strider collaboration has since ended and that fact alone has pushed prices up on those models.

Do you have the box at all?
