Just had to comment on my Buck-Strider 889 (the one with the coyote brown handles and 420HC blade).

On July 3rd, my wife and I moved into a new house. I had that 889 clipped to my pants/shorts during the packing, the move, plumbing work/electrical work, and some unpacking.
That knife was used to: remove embedded teflon tape on plumbing, cut open numerous boxes, scrape wallpaper, cut small wire, strip insulation from wire, dig hardened mud from the footpads of a step-stool, peel a few mission figs from the fig tree in my new home's yard (yummy snack!), cut a few small branches/canes from a rose plant, and much more!
I quickly honed the knife on a kitchen steel only once and the knife kept a good edge! The handles give a great grip and with that stiff pocket clip, it always stayed in my pocket. Well...once I caught the clip on the sliding door frame (going through the doorway quickly) and the knife was pulled from my pocket and slammed to the floor. No damage...
A very tough knife for a great price and I recommend this folder to anyone who needs a durable folder they can use and 'thrash' on if needed. (They're getting hard to find, but I can definitely recommend this knife!)

Regards,
Mike

Buck Strider 889OD is my current EDC, cannot go wrong with this one. liner lock could be better, but for eveyday cutting it's the best. I recently got mine, and I hear they don't make them anymore, probably because of the weak liner lock. You get what you pay for!

I'm rather surprised at the commentary about a weak liner lock.
I picked up two of the coyote brown models, one with the OD handle, and one with the black handle - all four (4) lock up solid!
I do have to say that while the lock-up is solid, the liner lock does lock up midway on the tang on two of them. While that's a bit futher over than the approximately 1/3 of the way over on the tang of some folders (which allows for some wear), the midway point for lock up on my two folders works for me.

As wh4f mentions above - no more collaboration between Buck and Strider knives. A sad time indeed since those knives made for some value-priced tough and usable knives and was even a way for the 'person on a budget' to try out a 'semi-Strider' knife.

And, in case you're wondering, no - I'm not getting paid to promote these knives. LOL!
Just a big fan of both Buck knives and Strider knives...

Regards,
Mike

I have two of them the tan and the dark green, I carry one or the other most of the time both are users and I really like them...not a bad defense knife either.
