Not being an alarmist, I just thought I read a thread that stated the Buck/Strider collaboration was over. Of course, surfing three forums in the space of an hour left me clueless where I read it.

Buck still has a web page up on them. Was I tweaking out?

it was here on the Buck forums, but it was at least a couple of months ago..

Oh Yeah that is deader than a zirquwe. They used their design for a cheap imitation made in china pos knife called the ghoST RIDER. Mick and duayne did not tkae kindly to this. Buck isnt half the company it used to be.

ghoST RIDER. Wow. I find it funny that Chuck Buck was quoted as saying "It's a testosterone thing" when asked about 'tactical' knives. They have a whole new tactical line out just for mall ninjas now :jerkit:

I was not aware of that specific issue, I guess I should at least partly retract my staement made in a different thread:

A big plus is they don't seem to rip off custom makers and other knifes companies like a number of other companies do.

Actually I just got off the phone with Buck and they know nothing about any ending of the collaboration at their store. In fact they informed me that they are having a big sale starting the 26th of this month for certain models of Buck Striders. I specifically asked if the Buck collaboration was over and Amber said if that was the case she knew nothing about it. She did say she would find out though. All she did say about it was that some models in the Buck/Strider line were being discontinued but others were not so to me that doesn't sound like an ending of the relationship.

Who knows though? It would not be the first time the right hand of a company didn't know what the left hand was doing.

On another note based on past issues that always came up on the Strider forum when it was still here is it any suprise that there was a confrontation in the Buck/Strider relationship? Frankly I saw it coming. Any time you have that kind of volitile nature such as Mick has demonstrated here there are bound to be some issues that come up. This isn't a judgement or anything or even a negative comment about Mick its just simply the fact. He doesn't hold back for anyone so my only surprise really is that the relationship went so smoothly for so long before there was a confrontation. It seems to me Strider has pretty thick skin and that Buck must have too so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they worked it out for the time being.

Interesting. I almost bought a Ghost rider but knew I would mod it - the handle was goofy. So I upgraded to a 887 SBT in 420 and FRN and got a bad linerlock, tried to sell the replacement, and wound up sanding down the checkering as many have discussed.
STR's concerns about the thin liner are real to me - the replacement won't handle a sharp spinewhack any more than the first, which broke back faster than a lonely cowboy :D .

It's my conclusion that Buck did it to Strider before a cheap importer got the chance.
