i was checking out my new buck strider tanto and i was wondering what the angles of the edges are, are the tip and main edge different? i also noticed the one side of the tip isnt ground down far enough, so the grind line gets smaller as it reaches the tip, will this affect my ability to resharpen it??? thanks.

My understanding is that the tip of the tanto buck strider is not sharpened like the main edge of the blade. Its intended for prying and scraping, not really cutting. So if you sharpen it you have your work cut ouf for you. Do a search this has been addressed by buck in the past.

Mike990, thanks for the info, it turns out yer right, i found a whole bunch of stuff about the tip AFTER i posted this thread, its amazing what you can find when you look:) but ive decided, after a thorough looking over by me and a few other somewhat knife knuts that i should sent the knife back, the grind on the primary edge is really messed up, if you look at it from the top it looks freakin crooked, im not dissing the knife or buck for that matter, i love the freakin knife, i love the mini tanto that i bought too, and im gonna buy both spearpoint versions as well and probably the buck/strider solution too. and in all fairness to Bucks QC its kinda hard to notice unless your REALLY look hard, i didnt even notice it until i saw the light shine off the edge. so, back it goes to where i got to to hopefully get one ground as good as the mini tanto i got :D

payback462, greetings and happy holidays!!
Just my cent and a half: you may consider sending the knife directly to buck. it would save time in transit and potential problems all around.IE: what if dealer has 2 or 3 more with the same grind problem ? sending to buck, they will fix it direct and ship back to you under warranty. NOTE, i understand buck is closed for xmas till after new years. You may double check that with a call to them.( i believe they run a maintainence staff only)
As far as the mini buck/strider spearpoint goes, i really like mine.if for some reason you dont like the aggressive clip, if you remove it the knife fits perfect in a 112 sheath.;)
take care, guy
