Does anyone have an opinion on these knives? I handled the tanto in a store. It is HEAVY!! really heavy. But it seems like it could take a nuclear bomb blast and still be O.K.. I like the way it rides on my belt, and it draws easily. But what kind of steel is it? it costs around 100$ at this store. Is it wourth it< or should I go for something else for a hardcore indestructable outdoor survival knife

I think this is a great "not just a knife" knife. It would act as a shovel, axe and prybar from its looks. If you dont need it to be those things I dont think you need that thick of steel. A somewhat thinner knife could manage all "knife" duties" and not be so heavy/bulky. But for an over built tank of a knife you be hard pressed to find better at the same price. Blade steel is 420hc

From what I have heard they are not terribly well regarded but the Strider/Buck Solution is supposed to be quite good. The Buck 119 is one of the best unintended fighting knives ever though. I have one of the 100 year anniversary
Buck 119's with the good leather sheaths and I like it better than many more expensive knives.

You should post these questions in the Buck forum lots of guys there to help.
What is the model # of this Buck/strider tanto? I personally don't think you can ever go wrong with a Buck knife, but then I guess I am a little partial :D
