Recently there is some saying going around in my location about "Buck Strider hardness testing dots". It's said that on the Buck Strider folders (should be both SB1 and SB2 I guess) there is something like a small dot in the blade somewhere, and that dot is made after "hardness testing" is performed on the blade. Someone even posted picture of the blade with a tiny round dot near the "Buck Strider" logo. Some other Buck Strider owners also say they have the dots on their blades, but in various places (some are near to the pivot).
I have an SB1 SP and I don't see any dot in the blade. And I also doubt if Buck could let a blade with obvious dots go out of factory.
So the question is: is the "hardness testing dot tale" true? If not true, where do they come from? I don't think it's easy to make a somewhat deep dot in the ATS-34 or BG-42 anyway.
Thanks in advance for any information.
