ok, this is taken directly from Buck's site. Can anyone tell me what steel the liner locks are comprised of? also, if its the same steel, same Bos treatment, how can the Buck-Strider differ from the actual strider? do they use different methods? materials? whats the strider difference and why am i paying 300 dollars more? now dont get me wrong, i still intend on spending that much on an actual strider :D, its just, id like to know.

I'm not sure what the Buck/Strider/Tarani's liners are made of, but there is a big difference between the Buck and the actual Strider.

First, the Strider is a framelock. Second, everything is beefier on the Strider. Third, they use S30V for their blades instead of ATS34.

i just dont like the buck/strider taranis, imho the 880 or the spear point are lots closer, at least in spirit to the striders, even then though my strider AR is about 3X the knife my 880 is, as good as the 880 is. there really isnt any comparison just like all the collaborations.........

I don't care for Striders, but I like the Buck Tarani Strider. It fits well in the hand. I think the textured deployment portion of the blade is a good idea. Only thing I don't like is the serrations, but if I was a cop, I'd want them. I wouldn't pay more for the real deal, because the Buck version is a good design, well built and sturdy.

They are different knives for different purposes. The Buck Strider knives are much more affordable, which widens the market to include a lot of people who do not need the extra durability of the Strider knives.

The Tarani is unique to the Buck Strider line. There is no direct Strider equivalent. It was designed with specific law enforcement criteria in mind, and was made to hold up under ordinary use in a civilian environment.

I not sure what the liners are made of but I think they might be titanium. I have both the Buck Tarani and Strider folders, and although they may be similar there are very much different. If you are looking at em, you'll see that the Strider is a much more solid piece. The lockup, the weight, the way the blade opens and closes is better in a Strider vs the Buck Tarani. Don't get me wrong, I like my Tarani alot, its blade is real easy to sharpen, and its a real tough knife at its price point, but it doesn't compare to the Strider. Slam a door of a Mercedes or [insert luxury auto name here] and do the same to a Honda Civic or [insert entry level car name here] you'll notice the diffence right away. That difference might be worth the extra money to some, and maybe not to others. You make the call.
