Quick question:

You've paired down your choices to two:

Buck Strider Mini, or Spyderco Lil' Temperance.

If choosing from ONLY these two, which would you choose for hard use/abuse? Thanks!

Sincerely,
Anthony

Well, I have only had the buck myself. But even not handling the Spyderco, I can tell you that for hard use that you can't go wrong with the Buck. It is built, like everyone is fond of saying, like a tank. And yet the mini still feels alright in the hand. It also has a thick blade, which still cuts very well. And if you luck out you can find the mini in BG-42.

I've owned them both and the Spyderco is second to none. First off, the handle on the Spydie grips you back with great ergos, a nice G10 texture, and the handle cut-outs. The handle is also much more attractive in green than the black G10 boxy handle on the Strider. Secondly, the Spyderco opens alot easier than the small thumb stud on the Strider. The Spyderco's lock is just as strong if not stronger and mine had CONSIDERABLY less blade play than my Strider. Last but not least, the full flat grind of the Spyderco WILL CUT CIRCLES around the fat hollow grind of the Strider. Don't get me wrong, the Strider is still a good knife, but the Spyderco is just better.

The Strider is thicker than you might expect. It is thick and square to the point that it is uncomfortable to hold tight, and it is very bulky in your pocket.

Also, the blade is thick, which is good or bad, depends on your point of view. If you like KABARs and machetes, you will like it. If you like finnish puukkos or the Spyderco Military, you will hate it. Can't get clearer than that.
