Buck/Strider problem

I just got a new Buck/Strider in BG-42. I noticed that if I look at the front end of the handle (pivot end) I can see the liners are definitely not parallel with each other. This is causing all the tension in the pivot to be put on a small portion of the blade washers, instead of the entire surface. It looks like either the washers are too thin (2 large ones on one side, 1 small one on the other) or the backspacers are too long. I can loosen the pivot tension until the liner are parallel, but then the blade is very, very loose.

I'm guessing it has to go back, but I wanted to get a 2nd opinion and can't find an email or phone # for Buck's warranty department.

There's the phone #, down at the bottom of the page! My attention span had run out by that point :o Thanks!

hey, don't feel bad.
Glad we got the chance to talk about your knife. We should be able to remedy the problem for you.
Take care,

I've got a similar problem. I have three of the large thin spacers on one side, but the liners are still slightly bent inward towards the pivot end. I imagine the problem can be solved by inserting a fourth spacer.

Alphapb - Is your also BG-42 or is it ATS? Will really help my troubleshooting to know.

Jeff

Hi, I have the ATS-34 version. I still have the box (not right here in front of me), so I can grab any other serial number information for you if you'll need that.

The strange this is that my knife came with 3 of the thin washers, whereas everyone else seems to have 2.

Thanks Alpha, that helps.. I'm looking into the variance of washer set-ups, and haven't come up with much yet. It seems we may be putting different combos in based on part fit and available washers..

Most I've checked have 3 .010 washers on one side and 1 .030 on the other.. I need to work on this more, and hopefully, I'll come up with something more concrete. Bear with me, we are in the midst of New product runs, I'll have something soon..

Any idea on the ETA for my knife? That way I can stop checking the mail anxiously every day :)

Ok, my turn to feel like a dummy! Although I do remember getting your knife here at Buck, I don't remember your name so I can't look it up to determine the ETA. Please email me.
