I don't know how many of you guys have one of these but MAN O' LIVE what a knife!! I picked this up on the Bay from a guy in Hawaii. I was surprised I won it as I didn’t bid very high compared what these things normally go for in like new condition. This one is mint. I very impressed with it and delighted I have it. The Endura IV just went in the EDC box and the Strider is in its place in my back pocket. btw, its a 2001 with ATS-34. Cool Beans:thumbup:

So the four on my person are back to being all Bucks….Strider, DP110, Wrangler, Tempest….I love it!!

Now that I've had a little time with this knife I thought I'd make some comments about it.

STURDY; this guy is rock solid with not a wobble anywhere. This liner lock system might as well be a framelock.
BIG; everything about this knife is big and beefy...3/16ths thick blade to 3/32nd titanium liners. The blade is 3 7/8ths long from tip to frame. It is 5 3/8ths closed and the 5/8ths thick.
FEEL; this knife is one for someone with big hands...that said it feels very natural and well balanced. The G-10 is grippy and I don't think slipping is an issue. The grooving for the thumb rest on the blade has a very secure texture.
IMPRESSION; this one just feels great in your hand, the quality is outstanding and it seems to inspire confidence that it can handle anything thrown its way. It is a knife with a clear mission and purpose and the design and brawnyness to do it in fine style.

Hey FlatLander...

I was skeptical about the Buck Strider gig at first. Dunno why. Just was.
But I heard so much about the 889SBMF I thought I'd get one...or was the 890 Tanto my first? Think it was...anyway, that's all it took.

These things are the cockroaches of the Buck herd in my opinion. Will survive an atomic blast.

Goose this SB.1 is awsome!! I'm on the verge of new Buck fasination. I'm definately going to see if I can find a mini with a clip point like your third from the top. I haven't warmed up to tanto points yet but......

Thanks for sharing your Strider collection. I knew there had to be some more guys out there that had been Striderized:D:D

I just bought a Strider Buck Solution. I am impressed with the build quality. The thing is SOLID! I think it will be one of my favorite fixed blade.

Interesting. Just started collecting Bucks. I started with a couple of 184s and a Probris bayonet, so I'm impressed. My normal carry knife is an Emerson Comrade, and this has some similar features. Might have to try it. Thanks for all the good info.

You have the original 888 Solution. Very good. Never get rid of that. It is the one that was flat grind originally.

The latter versions were the half hollow grind when Buck came out with the err...what Grind 2000 or something(sorry, I don't know my Buck terminology by heart).

Is there something "better" about the original versions or is it just because there a fewer of them? I tried to find out some info about this knife when I got it, but got no responses. Either way I like this knife. I know that there was some chatter about the ATS34 chipping, but then it seemed that the original edge just needed to get some work. My knife still has the original factory edge, and I may have to get someone, who knows what they are doing, to re-do it some.

'Better' is possibly subjective....but the original is full flat grind and the last portion of the edge where it leads to the finger notch area is unsharpened. The latter ones were narrower hollow grounds.

I never heard of a problem of the originals but they are rarer than the latter and I personally prefer full flat grinds.
