Howdy,

I'm torn between these two knives. I like the G10 and Ti liners of the 880, but the shape/ergonomics look pretty uncomfortable. I like the SBt blade shape, but serrations aren't great for me. I've found the 880 for a little over $100 new. Which should I get?

THANKS!

SBT should be easier to carry since it is smaller and not as thick. If you don't want people to know that you have a knife in your pocket you might want to go with the SBT.

They are actually two very different knives. Having handled an SBT last week and having carried a Buck Strider 880 SP for years and now having the new version of the Buck 880SP I would say you have to look at your knife needs. The 880SP will do anything, the SBT is more utility and cutting not really a hacking folder

Both the 880 and the 882 compliment eachother well. Many LEO's carry the 882 as their pocket folder and keep the 880 in a pouch on their Belt in case they need to do some heavier prying or work with harder materials. The 882 has the same blade steel and can pry very well, however it is a little weaker than the 880, But since the 880 is probably the strongest folder in the world (besides the AR and GB) its not a really fair comparison.

Get both and you are covered either way

:D
