Buck Strider Solution - questions?

I bought a Solution ATS-34 and love it, mostly. I saw some threads awhile back that talked about having Buck completely sharpen the blade (get ride of the 1/4 inch un-sharpened section at the bottom of the blade). Has anyone had this done? Also the sheath is good but has anyone had a Kydex one made (I was thinking about Survival Sheath Systems)?

You have one of the earlier models, very high edge strength. You can send it in and we can have a custom grind thrown on it, but it may take a while. Not sure of the cost, that's Joe's dept. Send him an e-mail and he'll take care of you. Since you have one of the odler versions, make sure the collector value won't go down by modifying it.

The new version has smoother G10 handles and a full hollow grind. Much sharper and better suited for general purpose.

Kydex sheath,

Is it possible to post a picture with the newer versions and their grind? There are enough pictures of the old version online so one of the newer ones will be enough.

I carry my old Solution in a kydex sheath made by Eric of On/Scene Tactical. The design of the knife makes it fit very well in a kydex sheath. I much prefer the kydex over the stock sheath.

Also, is the new custom grind similar to the hollow grind on the new models?
 
I talked with Joe and mailed it to Buck. Joe already emailed me and said the work has been done and that he was shipping it back. I can't wait to get it!

Wow, talk about service! I was following this thread and I just wanted to say, way to go Buck! I own a Buck/Strider large tanto (an older one) and threads like this give me full confidence that a great team stands behind the knife I carry daily.
 
I sent in my 880 to buck to remove the bead blast and received excellent service.
