Hey guys.
I'm new to this part of the forum. So I suppose a little introduction is in order. My name is Chris. I've been active on BF for a few years now. Recently I've been doing more trading than anything else.
I'm very new to Buck knives. I own a Buck 119 Special and like it a lot. Ever since I was a young teenager and first saw the Buck Striders in a gun shop I've always wanted one. Last week my dream came true and I got one in a trade. It is the model with an AST-34 blade heat treated by BOS and "FRN" type handles. The knife is riveted together. It is in very good condition but has some wear from carry. The blade is still shaving sharp with a factory edge. Over all I am very happy with the knife.
Anyway, to get to my question. The lock is "sticky" most of the time but not always. Is this normal on these knives? The locking liner has "traveled" all the way to the far side of the blade tang and so has no more room to "wear in" Lock up is still totally solid with no blade play what so ever in any direction. But the liner is hand to disengage from a locked position about 75% of the time. Is this a warranty issue? Does Buck's warranty cover knives bought on the secondary market? Is it something I can fix myself? Can I send the knife to Buck and have them fix it for a fee? Or is it something I should just live with?
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

it should not be sticky or all the way over to the far side. Send it back into us please, and we will take care of it. our 4ever warrenty is good for new or secondary markets.

I don't believe that these are made anymore, are they? Will it be an issue to get parts to repair it? I really don't want to lose this knife as its kind of a "holy grail" for me.
Also, if I do send it in for repair to what address should I send it and should I include cash or a prepaid sticker for return shipping?

Bucks warrenty covers any buck knife. If it cannot be fixed, it will be replaced. If that knife if not still in production it will be replaced with a similar knife. If you do not want a similar knife and you would rather have the original back put a not with the knife and the will send that knife back.

Bucks warrenty is amazing! Don't be fooled there are somthing that voids the warrenty. You may hear that Bucks warrenty will cover any buck knife that is damaged no matter how it happened, this isn't exactly true. If you break a knife by doing somthing a knife isn't made for like prying, thats a no-no and it voids the warrenty so if you break the tip off, that knife is done. If you alter the knife in any way, it voids the warrenty, you may see buck 110's or 112's that have been altered to be a switch blade, if you get one and it breaks you can't get it fixed. This also means (I think) if you cut off the blade and make a new handle for it, it voids the warrenty.

Althought some of this may not have completely answered your question, send it back. They should be able to fix it for you.

Before you send it back try oiling the lock it may be that simple.

The address for buck is here :

Hope this helped!

Thanks Zach. I'll try oiling it and if that won't do it I'll send it in. I'm just worried that they won't be able to fix it because this is the pinned version. So the knife may not be able to come apart easily.
Thanks
