Buck/Strider Tight Clip?

I just got my new Mini Buck/Strider and wow am I impressed! However, the clip is TIGHT. I'm having a hard time even getting something between there to bend it a little. I don't have the right size torx wrench for the clip screws so I don't want to rip the whole thing out of the G-10.

Anyone elses come like this? Can I bend it while the clip is still attached? Any tips?

Mabye I'm in the minority, but I like my clips that way. I tightened the clip on my BM 806 so tight that if you try to push a piece of paper under there it will rip. I don't have any tips on loosening it though, sorry.

How exactly did you do this because my BM 550 feels loose and is making me nervous about losing it.

For loosening it, maybe try stacking something solid under it where it makes contact with the sweet slabs of G10. I suggest trying 2 quarters as a starting point. It may help a little, good luck.

I'm fine with a tight clip, but when it's so tight that I can't even get it into my pocket without practically ripping my pocket off, it's a little too tight ;)

Anyone know what size torx head the clip screws are?

Well after a little more fumbling around I managed to loosen up the clip. Works like a charm now :)

The Strider guys like their clips TIGHT - main purpose to prevent against loss in the field.

:)

ARs, GBs, SnGs, SMFs, they're all known for this trait.

For the Buck-Striders, you can simply just physically "bend" the clip back a little, and thus adjust tension to your liking.

i wouldn't bend the clip when it's attached to the knife. the screws are tapped into the G10, not the Ti frame, so I tend to worry about the brittleness of G10...

But lots of ppl in here seem to have bent the clip w/ it attached, so i guess it must not be a big deal. just with 100+ dollar knives, i'm not taking chances if i can help it.

if you have to, maybe stick the whole handle w/ clip attached in a vice? line it up so the vice clamps down on the clip screws, then bend away. maybe this would offer a little more piece of mind.

i dunno what size the torx wrench is, but one of the bits in the "benchmade blue box" worked perfectly.

also, maybe consider taking the clip off and smoothing the rough g10 down under it? i feel like part of the reason why it sticks so bad is because of clip tension, and then part of the reason is because the rough g10 is grabbing your pant. i smoothed the g10 down a little bit and now it deploys quite well, and no more chewed up pants. ;)

take care.
