I think only 880 can compete ZT200 really. Everything what came after was weakened.

They are similar knives in terms of size and weight, used materials ATS34 ws CM154 (which is almost same), G10 handles, liner locks etc. However conceptually they are quite different. Buck 880 more like Strider - straight lines, simple but delicate design. It is not less comfortable then ZT200, but to feel it you need to handle it. ZT200 - is much more Onion knife then Strider - it has this exotic "Hawaian" curvy lines, without single straight segment. It is more anathomic - better fit palm, however as usual for anatomic handles it kind of has less freedom - you may hold it comfortably only with certain positions.

So I guess really it is matter of personal taste.

I like them both and can not say which one I like better.

Manufacturing quality I think is better on 880, ZT200 has same quality level as 882 - in terms of - I had to sand liner, othervise it damage my finger. 880 mechanisms works smoother, handle surfase is more delicate but still grippy.

Thanks, Vassili.

You posted this in the Buck forum? :D
The Buck Strider all the way :D
I'm not familiar with the Kershaw but the Buck is better ;)

Overall the ZT will most likely slice better due to the thinner blade. The 880 for example has a 4.5mm thick blade which is pretty much a sharpened pry bar. I'd agree with Noz that the 880 is the only one going to come close to the performance level of the ZT. I like the grip texture of the ZT better but the spear point blade appeals to me over the recurve. I also like that black finish but that isn't a big deal.

The 880 and 881 I owned were both nice knives. I've actually had several of each of those models. I had to buy three of each to find one in each model that locked up the way I wanted with no blade rock. This is the only notible problem that was repeated by many about the 880 and 881 models. Otherwise they disassemble very easily, stand up pretty well to abusive uses that would shatter an otherwise lesser built folder and really its a tough call. They are both thick. Really they are both a handful and a pocket full. Flip a coin I guess.. :D

I was licky, I guess, - mechanics on my 880 still remain one of te best and same for ZT200-302. 880 has hollow grind like almost all Bucks so if you do not cut very deep in the terget is is OK.

Difference in thickness is ZT - 10/64", 880 - 11/64", but sure ZT has flat grind on 80% of blade width and 880 has hollow grind on 50%. Buck's blade and handle are bit logner, but same width.

Thanks, Vassili.
