Saturday I picked up a Buck-Strider 889 olive drab, and am really liking it; anyone else have one that care to share your thoughts about the knife? I can not afford the Strider, while down some from the Strider's hard core toughness, the BS seems plenty tough for what I do with a knife daily.

Hi Jeff...
The forum search function seems to be down...was gonna link a thread or two about the 889SBMF.
I have learned here that you either love 'em or ya hate 'em.
As for me, got a 889SBMF and a 889SBMF that I put a 882 blade on plus two 889LE knives (the top two in the pic)...and I love them. The 889 is a GREAT EDC knife and a lotta Buck for the buck.
I guess I should focus on getting the OD and Coyote colored ones, but that will be later.

Below are my Buck Strider knvies.
I hope you end up liking your's as much as I do mine :)

Jeff, I've been carrying an 882 for over a month now. I picked up several when Cabelas was selling them cheap. It's been a great knife. I pulled an engine at the wrecking yard yesterday and used it to cut all the hoses, fuel line, smaller wires, etc., that were in the way. Also cut up a bunch of cardboard for the recycle can.

I've had to sharpen it once, it's ready again. Interestingly the edge put on at the factory didn't match one side to the other, different angles. I corrected it and will have to spend less time sharpening it in the future. This was probably just an issue with a batch of the ATS-34 blades. The uneven grind was mentioned in an earlier thread....

My only "minor" complaints with the knife are that I would prefer the blade not be partially serrated, and it can be a little difficult to release the liner lock at times. I hope you enjoy your knife, mine has been a great EDC.....Mike

I really like all of the Buck/Striders. I even found one with the Buck/Strider 882BKX with the strider/buck stamp upside down! I am focusing on the Buck Military knives. It all started with a 184 Buckmaster and then a 186 titanium.
