i've been edc'ing a delica for about a year and a half. been considering a new edc and noticed the 888sbmf. seems like a good deal but i'm not that familiar with the 420hc. i just bought a buck 110 and the blade is very sharp, but i won't use the 110 in the same way. my delica with vg10 has withstood some abuse and i was wondering how the 420hc would compare. i know the blade stock on the 888 is thicker than my delica so i believe that would help. also, how good are the linerlocks on the buck striders?? how would you guys compare the 888sbmf to a delica?? any others i should look at (try to keep it under $75).

thanks

Serious steel snobs don't like 420HC, but most people agree that because of the very good heat treat, Buck's 420HC is very good. Not VG-10 good, but better than "420" would imply.

It is very sharp, and holds an edge well. Not as well as VG-10, but you should be happy with it.

The thicker blade stock will make slicing worse, but improve durability when abused.
