I was looking at the folding Buck strider for work and noticed there are differnt models. One has a heat treated blade and a differnet material for the grip. Can anybody tell me the difference between the heat treated blade and the standard blade when it comes to wear and sharpening. Is the extra cost worth it?

Thanks

I do not think the ats-34 blade is worth the extra but that is just personal preference I guess... I had one of each 882 and 889. I did not care for the serrated blade on the 882 but I did like the uncoated blade with the texturing on it! They are excellent knives. Very durable well built. My .02 only though :D
Good luck

That's where I am at. I don't want a black blade, but it seems that's the only way I can get a straight blade. I was going to call Buck today and see if they are going to make the "stainless colored" blade in straight.

It sure was nice when I use to drive over to the factory when they were here in San Diego County and just talk to the folks.

There was a run of Buck Strider Taranis wwith plain Ats34 blade, but these are hard to find - I've tried recently with no success ((
