Are you happy with the quality/performance? Or, would you recommend a different option for the money?
-thanks

Well the Buck Striders have all been discontinued. I have owned most all of them and been very happy with them. Tough well designed knives IMHO. If your looking to pick one up, which one might it be. It could help narrow down your answer???;)

I have 2. I got them on the exchange forum here. I have the 889 sbk and the 882 tarani. I like them both alot although the lockup on the 889sbk seems to much better. The 882 tarani I keep in the box it is unused. Mine are both liner locks.

I'm happy with my 882 Tarani. Great lock up but I did get to pick mine, and I like their 420HC even on a hard use knife.

I've got the ATS-34 model - and I have 2 problems with it.

The blade is severely off center, and if you whack the knife on your knee the lock will fail.

This may have something to do with the offcenter blade.

I agree with what you said, I had an older 882 OD model and I dropped it once and the lock did fail. Mind you the drop was about four feet on the cement. I sold it soon after that incident. I don’t recommend it.
