Saw an interesting knife at the gunshow today. It wad a Strider clone. At first I thought it was just a knock off but it was marked Strider and also Buck. It looked just like an SNG but was a liner lock with what I guess was G10 scales. Si what is this thing? Some sort of collaberation? I looked a few up online and saw a couple for sale but no real info on them. And I will say, it did NOT feel or look worth the exhorbatent asking prices.

Yeah, Buck had a collaboration with Strider a number of years ago. Buck produced several fixed and folding knives that looked similar in appearance to many of Strider's knives.

And while many of the Buck/Strider folders had a SNG-like appearance to them, they were nowhere near the quality of a real Strider SNG.

The prices that they command today on the secondary market is nothing short of crazy. For example, check the prices for a Buck/Strider 882 (or 889) on Fleabay. A modern Buck Vantage Pro w/S30V steel is a bargain in comparison...

They originally sold for under 50 bucks. Today they go for 3-4 times as much. It was a decent $50 knife. It looks like a Strider but other than that, it is a Buck knife.

i was always on the fence about buying a few of them, but never got around to it. knowing what they sell for now, i wish is would have!

That's crazy! I was going to say, it felt like a cheap knife. The dealer wanted $150 for it used! Ridiculous.

I don't think it feels like a cheap knife. Does some heavy work in and out of the house.

I handled one of these at a gun show but passed on buying it due to the price. It didnt feel cheap to me at all had a great paul bos treated ats-34 blade on it and the strider handle which i have always liked but ill take my vantage pro over it anyday of the week and twice on Sunday

Ok, maybe not cheap, but it surely didn't feel like an expensive knife. I think mostly it was the handle material and texture that threw me off.

I was turned off by the really thin liner lock on the 882 that I handled, and so I passed on it. Looking back, I really wished I would have picked one up just to have one...

I have one. They came in a few different variations.

The cheapest had a blade of 420HC, mine is the ATS 34 version with rivet construction. The most rare is the G10 version with screw construction.

Even though the liner is a little thin , the blade steel is excellent and the knife is quite good. I don't know if I'd pay $150 , I got mine direct from Buck, when they were closing them out. I think they were selling them for $45.

Awesome! Mine's identical with a plain edge. Just sits in my safe nowadays though...

150.00 for one of these atrocities borders on the hilarious. I got one for an Xmas gift when they were still in production
and I was embarrassed to carry it from the moment I got it out of the box. Scrawny liner, off center blade seemingly
by design due to washer thickness, overly heavy blade, G-10 scales aggressive enough to grate cheese not to mention
the pocket of your jeans. I can't imagine these being worth anything on the secondary market; if someone wants
to give me a hundred bucks for this POS I'd love to hear from you.

I had a couple - and they failed a spine whack test on CARPET :(
They sold for $40 - $50 so really surprised to see such high asking prices. I think the ATS34 version with serration and G10 over liners used to retail around $100 tho.

ive got the g10 screw construction one, its one heck of a knife. ti liner lock, (i think) and nice build. it was basically my first non cheap s&w folder. one of my favorites.

check the secondary market or post a thread in the "wanted" forum. far more effective then necro'ing a thread

Can't enter the wanted forum as basic member.Have been looking and found the the thread interesting,as it was posted just a few weeks ago.Didn't think it would hurt or consider that "necro'ing".
