Are they as tough as they look. How does the liner-lock hold up. What steel Buck using. Worth a look?

Any informative Buck Strider threads getting around.

Thanks in advance,

Stalker 338...

I was REAL hesitant about getting a Buck Strider at first. But kept reading what peeps were saying about the 889SBMF. But before I got one of those I got a 890TX...loved it.
Figured the 889SBMF had to be "ok". Loved it.

My EDC now is a 880SP. Don't leave home without it.

Had one lock problem with a 889SBMF LE right outta the box...it was essentially a slipjoint. I was able to easily fix it...but never a failure on any of the half dozen or so BS folders I have.

Certainly there are detractors and fans of the Buck Strider line. I am definitely a fan.

Here is the most recent thread of many...

I have the 882 SBTG, and thanks to Goose the 880 SP as well, they both have the ATS-34 steel and G-10 handles. AWESOME knives! I have never had an issue with any of mine. *almost* bullet proof ;)
G10 handle on the 889??? Only if you swap the handles with the 882 SBTG!
Otherwise the 889 comes with the TACCOM nylon? handle. Great knife either way but I prefer the G10 myself. Good luck!

Thanks for that info wh4f

Definitely love the G-10 handle and ATS-34 steel. Mine is solid as a rock!

Hey Stalker...
Like Jim said, the 889SBMF doesn't use G-10.

Don't care for the serrations on the 882, even with the ATS-34 steel.
But, I prefer the smoother G-10 handle of the 882.

So I took my 882SBTG G-10 handle and put a 889SBMF blade in it.

Yes, I know the knives are not showroom quality for a pic...but these knives are definitely in my "EDC" category. Love those Buck Striders.
