I went and bought a new special at walmart last week, (then proceeded to void my warranty as with my first one) and instead of the idaho stamp, underneath the word BUCK was what looks like a British broad arrow proof stamp. What does this mean? Are Model 119's still made in USA or are they taiwanese/chinese imports now?

Thanks in Advance.

the chicken trax looking mark is a year mark not a proof mark and
i know i have seen that mark on english silver also...
wander if there is a copy right issue there?
any way -
buck has a list on their website of what is what year...
they do not have a system like case or other knife makers
no one knows why what mark is used when...
me personly- i would like to see roman numbers used on the back side...
but i am an odd ball ...
welcome to the buck ahaloics get your fix site...
collecting bucks is what is addactive and we meet here to help each other...

The Idaho stamp was only used in 2005, what you see is the 2007 stamp

119's are still made in the US

Chitchat is not allowed on this Forum.

Alligator - What did Wal-Mart charge you for the 119??? Did it have a leather sheath??? What packaging - yellow box, clam-pack, what???

First off, Chickentrax, Lagarto translates as lizard, not alligator. Anyway, it was in the yellow and green box, cordura sheath, 37.50 Messersmith, I dremeled a sawback into it. I had a thread about a year and a half ago on the first one I did. It works pretty slick. I deleted the pics to save memory space, but if you do a search for a thread titled voided my warranty (modded my special) it should come up. Thanks for the info on the tang stamp, glad they're still made in the US of A.

Sorry fellas, no pics. My camera drowned on my last work trip. I'll see if I can borrow one and get some.

Okay, I borrowed a camera and got some pics. Here you go. Thanks for the link above. Not very high quality as I had trouble with the flash, but the best I could get on short notice. The last one is a one inch diameter piece of live oak from the back yard, just so you can see what it can do with a little effort. Not just a notch cutter, although that is how it optimally performs.

I like that lagarto, a useful modification. Buck made a similiar knife in the old Custom Shop....

here is a old drawing of orders from the custom shop for verations of the
186 / 560 knife... with the saw back work on it...

and here you see one of the the drop points that was located ...
the saw back was done also but no one knows were it is as yet
the hole blade one was also the result of "playing around in the shop"
