buck tip breakage.

I think it's because they did something stupid with it. Tried to pry something, or use it as a screwdriver.

Thats why this one ended up as a Wharncliffe. And no I'm not the original tip snapper.

i lent my buck 110 to a fellow employee one day because he said he needed a knife. Didnt know he was gonna use it as a pry bar on a stubborn screw. Snapped tip right off:(..................that was like 4 months ago and it still gets too me. Needless to say i dont let anyone borrow my knives anymore.

maybe he^^ can fix yours like that. i like the way the sheep foot looks. thats a nice job.

I snapped the pen blade on my Buck 309 "Companion". I was PRYING an automotive fuse out of the holder. Buck fixed it, i learned a lesson. I have used it only as a knife for the last 20 years and amazingly, the tip never breaks anymore. Henry

While abuse is an obvious cause it's also possible that HT or especially grinding damage is the cause !! I've had two well known brands snap off the tip , no more than 1/8" ,with NO abuse .It's very easy to overheat the tip of a knife as it's very thin and heats very quickly !!

I once broke the tip off of a knife while trying to pry open a paint can.
What can I say....I was young and dumb at the time. :o
